value

the artist did a magnificant job showing value in this picture. One can clearly see where the light shines apon the tree, highlights its branches, and casts a shadow.

size

This piece explains size well simply by showing that the further up the page your eyes go, the farther away the scene feels. The viewer can see the street narrowing and the decreasing detail and height in the lit up buildings.

texture

This piece displays emplied texture beautifuly. The the quick, wispy, horizontal strokes that make up the ground suggest a downpour of rain, especially with the choppy reflection of the young woman walking away and the city lights. The short, blunt strokes and broken color behind her depict trees and more city.

shape and color explination

Pieces like this I usually don't consider art, but there is a strong sense of shape and color manipulation to express feeling to the viewer. This piece is painted in warm colors, expressing a stronger energy. The bold strokes of red and orange are very intense and depict anger or a bold "in your face" emotion. The strokes are very broad and forced on the canvas with rigid edges and no blending suggesting chaos or anxiety. There is a strong contrast between the negative and positive space that also supports this theory along with the general shape used being square.

directional explination

This is an incredible piece of directional art. While observing this piece, one's eye is taken back from the foot to the grotesque and unsettling look on the mans face. Our eyes also lead us to think that, because of the vertical "columns" above his head, one can actually step down closer to the man even though there is no depth. The man in the piece seems to be falling into the ground too.

linear explination

In this piece of linear art, there are diagonal implied lines that give perspective. The many columns give the feeling of strength and stability, and the floor ties the room together. The high rounded ceiling gives the piece a big, open feel even though the narrow walls close the sides. Also, it is almost as if the negative space of the air in the room itsself is one big implied vertical line as well.
